Hey everyone, CykaDev here!
Okay, so first of all, I wanted to do a disclaimer here, in case some of you hadn’t realized it yet: the sprites you can see in the screenshots recently are placeholders and WILL change! They’re just used to portray what the characters will look like. What you saw before was just concept art, and we’d like to have common placeholders for all the characters. That being said, we’ll show you the sprites when we feel they’re good to go!
I think we should start with the major news from this week: our composer, Jan Hehr, has left the team after some unfortunate events we cannot disclose. Well, technically, we could, but there are so many details it’d be a pain for both you and me. All you have to know is that:
- We left on good terms! We hold no grudges towards each other and we are still following each other’s work. We wish him the best in his future projects!
- We are not worried at all for the soundtrack of our visual novel! Actually, we have a full soundtrack done and licensed… But I’m gonna keep that a secret for now, because you still need a little surprise when it’ll release! Just know that it gave me DDRC flashbacks 🙂
So, while the recent events were unfortunate, we were lucky enough to have a plan B. The development of the game hasn’t been slowed down… actually, it’s been getting faster and faster lately!
For those who follow our Twitter account, you’ll probably have read that I may be done writing the first major “act” of the VN soon. I wish I could tell you more about the so said “act”, but it’s a bit special, hence the quotation marks.
I can however keep you updated with numbers! I really like giving line & words amounts, as it’s a great way to show how far we’ve come and how much work is being done. Since I’m still on break, I’ve been able to keep going with my schedule: one thousand lines a day, no less! With that rhythm, DDRC would’ve been written in a week. No joke.
As of now, we have a grand total of 54.000 lines, for 283.000 words. I think it’s a bit more than that, but you get a general idea!
This is it for this week’s news! I’m really sorry, I had planned something special this week, but with everything that happened, I felt like I owed some explanations here. Probably next week! 🙂
Thank you for your support, and I’ll be seeing you next week!
